Life at Harness IP

We represent some of the most sophisticated corporations in the world… and so will you.

Dedication to Outstanding Service

Harness IP represents an extensive range of clients, including companies in the Fortune 500, universities and research institutions, start-ups, and independent inventors. Firm attorneys and staff continuously strive to provide extraordinary service to clients. Our professionals are encouraged to excel at professional development, honing project management skills and building interpersonal relationships.

Flexible Lifestyle

With a reasonable annual billing goal, we pride ourselves on being balanced employers, affording the time required to deliver superior service to our clients while offering ample opportunity to pursue goals and activities outside of the office. Harness IP professionals work hard, but also value time for family, friends, personal interests, community involvement, and ongoing professional education.

Camaraderie & Teamwork

Maintaining strong relationships within our firm is a high priority. We nurture and encourage personal responsibility, reliability, self-motivation, professional development, entrepreneurship, self-confidence, and strong client relationships. We also believe that steadfast and positive internal relationships allow for cohesion and enhanced teamwork, resulting in a welcoming environment with opportunities that support not only the delivery of superior legal counsel, but also notable service and diverse ideas.

To encourage relationship building and teamwork, each year the firm participates in several events for attorneys and staff, including an attorney retreat, a family summer picnic, and holiday parties. Each event offers an excellent opportunity to further develop personal relationships with colleagues, as well as to enhance cross-office camaraderie.

Commitment to Diversity

We are committed to fostering and maintaining an inclusive culture where color, age, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, marital status, and family status are understood, respected, valued, and accepted. Our leadership seeks to hire, retain, and promote minority and female attorneys and staff. We develop and maintain a workforce that reflects the diversity of our employees, clients, and the communities in which we live and work.

Our Diversity & Inclusion Committee seeks out opportunities to promote a supportive and inclusive environment for attorneys and staff, and strives to set new benchmarks for expanding cultural norms and perceptions. With a focus on action, the Diversity & Inclusion Committee ensures the development of a continued roadmap of supportive initiatives that encourage distinction in everything we do.

In addition, we actively participate in organizations that promote and support diversity. A sampling of organizations in which we are involved, support and/or participate in and with include the National LGBT Bar Association; the Korean-American Intellectual Property Bar Association; Michigan Lawyers Weekly “Women in the Law;” National Asian Pacific American Bar Association; the Japanese Business Society of Detroit; the Washington University in St. Louis School of Engineering Mentoring Collective; and the Annual Screen Door Open ‘fore’ event benefiting the Special Olympics Michigan. We are also involved in and sponsor women and diversity focused programs for the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Intellectual Property Owners Association.
