Harness IP Patent Attorney Recognized as a “Woman to Watch” by the AIPLA

Harness IP is pleased to announce that Metro Dallas patent attorney Stephanie Dowdy has been chosen as a “Woman to Watch” by the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Women in IP Committee. Dowdy was recognized at AIPLA’s Virtual Mid-Winter Meeting, which was held February 1 – 5, 2021.

The “Women to Watch” award honors women within the AIPLA who strive to increase diversity, work toward the empowerment of other women, and show strength in leadership. Dowdy has been a member of AIPLA since 2010 and has organized and hosted the annual AIPLA Women in IP Global Networking Event in North Texas since 2019.

Dowdy joined Harness IP in 2011. Her practice includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications pertaining to mechanical and electrical/controls technologies. She works with clients in the automotive, firearm, HVAC, consumer product, and robotics industries. Dowdy also works on a variety of intellectual property litigation matters, from sporting goods, medical devices, automotive technologies, and computer software, to home goods and building supplies. Her experience includes working as an Engineer for General Motors for nearly five years before pursuing a career as a patent attorney.

Dowdy holds a J.D. and an MBA from Wayne State University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. Within Harness IP, Dowdy is a member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Outside of the office, she volunteers with the State Fair of Texas Livestock Committee and coaches her son’s baseball and basketball teams.
