IP Attorney Joel Samuels to Lead CLE on Top 8th Circuit Trademark Litigation Matters of 2021

St. Louis IP attorney Joel Samuels will lead an upcoming CLE presentation titled “8th Circuit Trademark Litigation 2021 Year in Review.” The event will take place Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 12:00 to 1:30 CT.

The CLE will take place in person at The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. Credit has been approved by the Missouri Bar for 1.80 MO MCLE credits.

Samuels will focus the discussion on relevant trademark cases decided in the Supreme Court, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, and in District Courts in the 8th Circuit. Additionally, the presentation will touch on important developments in trademark law and applications of existing jurisprudence.

Samuels is a Principal and IP attorney in the Metro St. Louis office of Harness IP. With nearly a decade of practice, Joel is not only a legal advisor and counselor, but also a facilitator to delivering productive, efficient, and streamlined solutions to his clients. Joel’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation in the areas of patents, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights. His experience includes all aspects of federal litigation, including conducting discovery, drafting briefs, conducting trial, and complying with settlement obligations. Joel also prepares the full array of legal opinions, including clearance, validity, and infringement opinions.

Joel is also called upon to negotiate and document a wide variety of agreements, including settlement, license, and inventor development arrangements. In addition, he advises on IP related transactions and claims involving complex antitrust issues, as well as advocates his client’s position in trademark oppositions and cancellations before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and Inter Partes Review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Joel holds a J.D. from Pennsylvania State University as well as Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics and 
Political Science, both magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University.
