Patent Attorney Michael Teich Named to Virginia Lawyers Weekly “Up & Coming Lawyers” List for 2021

Harness IP is pleased to announce that firm Principal and patent attorney Michael Teich has been named to the Virginia Lawyers Weekly “Up & Coming Lawyers” list for 2021.

Attorneys chosen for “Up & Coming Lawyers” are in their first 10 years of practice and are poised to become future leaders in the legal profession. This marks the sixth year that Virginia Lawyers Weekly has compiled this list of exceptional Virginia attorneys.

Teich is a Principal and registered patent attorney in the firm’s Reston, Virginia office. His practice focuses on obtaining patents and managing patent portfolios for clients in numerous high tech industries, including medical devices, semiconductors, image sensors, telecommunications, consumer electronics, and building/elevator technology. His clients are located in the U.S. and throughout the world, including in China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Finland, Israel, and Malaysia. In non-pandemic years, he frequently travels to Asia and Europe to meet with clients and prospective clients face-to-face and brief them on the latest developments in U.S. IP law.

With an advanced degree in electrical engineering, Teich is a quick study on the complicated technologies his clients are hoping to patent. He is also one of the firm’s “go-to” lawyers on the topic of “subject matter eligibility” and how it impacts clients’ abilities to obtain patents on computer and software technologies. Teich’s experience in subject matter eligibility issues and deep understanding of the underlying electrical, mechanical and computer technology allows him to navigate around many potential issues and obtain strong issued patents for his clients.

Teich earned his J.D. with a concentration in intellectual property from Hofstra University. He holds a Master’s degree in electrical engineering and a Bachelors in computer engineering, both from SUNY New Paltz. He joined Harness IP in 2011.

Virginia Lawyers Weekly will host an event honoring the attorneys named to the “Up & Coming Lawyers” on October 19 at The John Marshall in downtown Richmond, Virginia. Visit the Virginia Lawyers Weekly website to learn more and to see a full list of honorees.
