Ameya’s background as an electrical engineer and his considerable patent experience allow him to prosecute patents for a wide array of clients. His foundational knowledge of the electrical and mechanical aspects of intellectual property protection makes his patent prosecution skills applicable to innovative technologies in rapidly developing areas such as extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography, energy exploration and extraction, seismic and downhole technologies, advanced automotive power systems, EV battery technology, electronic display technology, fuel cells, consumer electronics, medical imaging devices, and drug delivery mechanisms.

Ameya frequently advises clients and inventors on invention disclosure, preparation, and submission and helps identify protectable aspects of products. He takes a collaborative approach when helping innovators protect their creations, understanding the client’s business needs and research and development activities, as well as how best to manage and develop domestic and foreign patent portfolios.

His knowledge of current patent laws and USPTO policies and procedures gives him comprehensive insight into protection for a broad range of innovations. He regularly helps prosecute reissue applications and appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and he maintains a working knowledge of laws, regulations, and practices relating to procurement of patents in countries other than the U.S.

Ameya began his patent career at Harness IP (then Harness Dickey). He gained invaluable experience at a boutique Houston IP firm focused on oil and gas extraction. He has additional experience at other national multi-practice firms.

He is particularly interested in the universal application potential of electrical and mechanical systems for innovative industries. A highly valued member of the Harness IP team, he believes the ever-changing nature of IP protection is a key driver for engagement and success in an increasingly global marketplace.
