Andrew’s intellectual property law practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of domestic, international and PCT patent applications in the electrical, computer and mechanical arts industries. He also devotes a portion of his practice to client counseling and the preparation of legal opinions related to patentability, validity and patent infringement.
Prior to Harness IP, Andrew worked as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO, where he focused primarily on Class 370 (Multiplexing and Internet Telephony), including packet and circuit switched communication networks. As a result, Andrew has developed an expansive knowledge base regarding the operations and inter-workings of the USPTO. Having been in the shoes of an examiner himself, Andrew offers a keen ability to understand the USPTO’s position, which often allows for more effective communication throughout the prosecution process. Andrew’s insight, in-depth technical expertise and pragmatic approach to patent procurement allow him to deliver unique advantages. He is frequently able to secure patents more quickly and economically for his clients.

Andrew’s technical capabilities range from semiconductor processing and packaging, to consumer electronics and display devices (OLEDs, PDPs, LCDs and e-paper). He understands voltage conversion and wireless communications, infrastructure and computer hardware and software. Andrew has prosecuted patents involving Internet-related technologies such as mobile applications, cloud computing, e-business, mobile commerce, Internet marketing, electronic data interchange methodologies, social media and instant messaging. His medical imaging industry expertise includes MRI, PET and CT technologies. In addition, Andrew advises clients involved in power generation systems, functional clothing, image processing and optics, lithography and lithographic systems, and navigation devices and related software.
Civic & Charitable
Andrew is active with the Sarcoma Foundation of America, which advocates for increased research into new therapies with which to treat sarcoma patients. He is also active with Uplifting Athletes, which is a national nonprofit organization advocating for increased awareness for rare diseases by aligning rare diseases with college football. In addition, Andrew is involved with several organizations that provide free legal services to cancer patients and their families.
