Chris’s goal is to reduce the risks and unjustified expenses facing clients while maximizing the value of each asset in their patent portfolio. Clients appreciate that he brings a multi-layered perspective to this undertaking, including his experience working for both a Tier 1 auto supplier and the USPTO as a Patent Examiner. His diverse background allows him to quickly connect with clients, speak their language, and understand their challenges and motivations.

Chris brings nearly ten years of combined IP experience to his practice as a patent attorney. His knowledge includes a vast array of technology areas that include automotive hardware and software, imaging systems, consumer electronics, mechanical devices, and medical devices. As a former Patent Examiner, Chris has an insider’s perspective on how to negotiate the strongest protections for his clients’ new technologies while navigating the most efficient route to patent allowance. Chris further prides himself on providing clients with realistic guidance after issuance to ensure they get the most from their investment.

Before joining Harness IP, Chris was part of the legal team for a major Japanese auto supplier and was stationed in their Nagoya office. He educated his colleagues about U.S. patent laws and best practices while pursuing patent protection for automotive and other technologies.

Chris’s experience as a Patent Examiner with the USPTO included reviewing patent applications directed to electromechanical amusement, gaming, and educational devices.

When he is not in the office, Chris enjoys cycling, learning about the latest electronics, and trying his hand at preparing numerous world cuisines.
